New Videos on Isackson Sawmill from Fall City Historical Society

The historical society plans to arrange a sawmill tour again this year.

With the help of a Heritage 4Culture Special Projects grant and the skills of videographer Christopher Charles Williams, two new videos are now available at the Fall City Historical Society. Both videos feature Duane Isackson, owner of the Isackson Sawmill, one of very few family sawmills still operating in King County. Isackson’s family history in the area goes back over 100 years, according to the historical society.

The first video is about the history of the sawmill and its unique machinery, including a workhorse diesel engine from a World War II landing craft. The second features Isackson talking about the many kinds of wood he has worked with in his years of running the mill.

A premiere screening of the videos was offered to a capacity crowd in the meeting room at the Fall City Library on April 19. Isackson was on hand to field questions after the presentation.
