Uniting the community, the second annual North Bend Downtown Block Party drew hundreds of Valley residents and visitors alike to the North Bend Way strip.

Enjoying live music, vendors and children’s activities, the Saturday, July 17, party crowds were amazed during the Almost Strongest Man Contest, where teams of men and women battled for bragging rights as they pushed and pulled their way through a number of weight-lifting obstacles.

Walking through “Arts Right Down Our Alley,” party-goers were able to see local works of art and craft demonstrations.

But the must-see-to-believe events that drew the most looks were the donut eating contest hosted by George’s Bakery and Cafe, followed by the Twede’s Cafe team hamburger eating contest.

“I’m going to take two bites and the rest is up to you,” contestant and Chamber of Commerce director Fritz Ribary.
