North Bend hosts public meeting on land acquisition for parks, potential funding sources, Tuesday

The city of North Bend has scheduled a town hall public meeting regarding the citizens’ interest in acquiring property for parks and open spaces and to protect land from development, 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, at the Mt. Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave. S., North Bend.

The mayor, city council and citizens of North Bend have the collective community vision of “preserving North Bend’s rural character, natural beauty and small town scale.”

The city wants to hear from citizens about whether or not the existing park inventory satisfies their park, open space, trail and recreational needs; whether they believe the city should seek to acquire other land to preserve and protect open spaces and whether citizens would support additional revenue measures to provide funding both to acquire additional land and to improve, develop and maintain such parks, open spaces and trails.

City officials will also hear public comment on the issue at the North Bend City Council meeting, starting at 7 p.m. in the same location.

Citizens can also submit written comments on the subject. Send comments to North Bend City Clerk, P.O. Box 896, North Bend, WA, 98045, or by email to soppedal@northbendwa.gov.
