Focusing on transportation issues both north and south of Interstate 90 — from Eastgate to North Bend — Issaquah Mayor Fred Butler recently invited state, county, city and agency leaders to a Regional Transportation Summit on Nov. 22, in Issaquah.
“My hope is that we develop a better understanding of regional transportation impacts on our communities,” Butler said. “I’m thrilled that the response, from both local and regional leaders, has been so positive.”
Initial goals include sharing information about transportation issues; building coalitions; and identifying next steps.
Along with King County Executive Dow Constantine, North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing and Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson plan to participate. Mayors from Bellevue, Covington, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Renton and Sammamish also plan to attend.
Representatives from regional agencies, including state legislators; Washington State Department of Transportation; King County councilmembers; King County Metro; Sound Transit; and the Puget Sound Regional Council also plan to attend, and participate in the dialogue.
The public is welcome to attend the summit, 1:30 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1800 N.W. Gilman Blvd., Issaquah.
