The Unity Theater will once again travel back in time to present another episode of “Leisure Time with Leisure Time: Waiting for Ella.”
Join the fun at Radio Station KORK – a fictitious radio station in rural Washington. The year is 1947, the hey-day of radio variety programs when, despite a no-show of Hollywood movie stars Ella Raines and Vincent Price, the show must (and does) go on.
Presented, as always, by the fictitious Leisure Time Soap Co. with its motto, “The soap so clean you can wash with it,” the show is the brainchild of Bellevue writer Jamie Gower and is produced and directed by Gary Schwartz.
The cast of irregulars at KORK Radio includes Host Billy Dupree (J.P. Giuliotti), Merle Cavenaugh (Rob Boose), comedian Ed Wynn (Gary Schwartz), European movie siren Rula Tepes (Sharon Cooper), singer Eva Soleil (Susanna Fuller), announcer Guy Fontana (Craig Ewing) and the big band sound of John Chmaj and the Chmajbees, who bring music to the comedy and mayhem at the Unity Theater stage. Sean Stone, Bill Stone, Michelle West, Kat Gower, Tony Dambrava and Ed Benson round out the cast.
The evening will finish up with the film-noir spoof titled “The Lady Was Dangerous,” an homage to Ella Raines, the queen of film noir classics of the 1940s.
The show runs one weekend only, June 15 and 16 (that’s a Friday and Saturday night). The show starts at 7:30 p.m. both nights and tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for students and seniors.
Tickets are available online at www.unitytheater.org or by calling (425) 831-5667.
The Unity Theater is located at 119 North Bend Way in the heart of downtown North Bend (above the bike shop).
