Thursday, Aug. 25, 1983

• Past experience makes Dr. Gerald Post confident that the financial and personnel problems enveloping Snoqualmie Valley School District 410 are on the mend. The new superintendent of schools took over his post here Aug. 15, and he’s raring to meet the challenges of the new job. “People have high expectations of me,” Post said. “Well, I have high expectations of myself.”

• Development of the South Fork Interchange is drawing closer with the City of North Bend and R&R Properties nearing agreement on a procedure to guarantee capital improvements in the area. Both sides agreed Aug. 16 to three plans which would guarantee extension of utilities and installation of roads, sidewalks and other improvements.

Thursday, Aug. 28, 1958

• Eight down and 24 to go — that’s the way the score board is going to read by the end of this week for the men who are moving Weyerhaeuser company houses from Snoqualmie Falls to the Jack Williams addition in Snoqualmie. According to Krone and Son, housemovers, no difficulties have been encountered this week, and (knock on wood), if the weather doesn’t complicate things, the parade of mill homes from the Terrace and Railroad Avenue and Riverside and the orchard will keep moving.

• Wednesday’s long-awaited rainfall gave everybody a big lift, but it does not lift a new regulation for the use of water in North Bend. On Tuesday, Mayor Bill Ghrames asked all water users to help conserve the supply because of fire danger.

Thursday, Aug. 24, 1933

• During the last week in August, Snoqualmie will be hosts to hundreds of Modern Woodmen of America, who will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the order and at the same time, holding the annual state encampment of the Foresters Department. It is expected that from 18 to 22 full forestry teams in dress uniform will be on hand to compete for prizes.

• The Tolt School District has about $15,000 in its building fund, and has called a special election to bond the district for $8,000. The district has applied to the federal government for a like amount of $23,000, for the purposes of erecting a $45,000 grade school building and gym. The community is manifesting considerable interest in a new school.
