Phone books scattered along Mount Si Road
On Jan. 16, Riverpoint development residents along Mount Si Road in North Bend woke up to hundreds of new phone books scattered alongside the road. Area phone book distribution company Compass Deliveries president Dave Hollingsworth said the phone books were not intended to be distributed to Riverpoint residents and that he does not believe the person(s) responsible for scattering the books work for his company. Hollingsworth picked up an estimated 300 books the following day. He noted that while police have yet to be notified, he is "trying to get to the bottom of this" by working with other distribution companies to check their numbers, suggesting that the work might have been done by an employee or employees of a competing distribution company who were "trying to get paid for nothing" by collecting payment for the books without delivering them. If caught, Hollingsworth said that the individual(s) responsible for the action will be asked to pay the cost of each discarded book.
