Point of snow return: Snoqualmie Valley weather forecast

I-90/Snoqualmie Pass has the highest snowfall in two decades.

More snow is expected to dust the Snoqualmie Valley this week, according to the National Weather Service. Here’s the latest forecast:

• Monday, Jan. 3: Rain and snow during the day with a high near 35 degrees. At night, expect about an inch of new snow and a low temperature around 31 degrees.

• Tuesday, Jan. 4: Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 2 p.m. with a high temperature near 40 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation expected during the day. At night, expect rain and snow showers with a low around 33 degrees. New snow accumulation of about an inch is possible.

• Wednesday, Jan. 5: Chance of snow before 5 p.m., then rain and some snow. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. High temperature near 40 degrees. Snow is expected late at night, followed by heavy rain with a low around 34 degrees.

• Thursday, Jan. 6: Heavy rain at times with a high near 47 degrees. At night, expect rain with a low around 40 degrees.

• Friday, Jan. 7: Rainy and cloudy with a high near 45 degrees and a low around 36 degrees at night.

• Saturday, Jan. 8: Chance of rain with a high near 43 degrees and a low around 34 degrees at night.

• Sunday, Jan. 9: Chance of rain with a high near 46 degrees and a low around 36 degrees at night.

So far, the I-90/Snoqualmie Pass has the highest snowfall in two decades as of today’s date, with the total snowfall currently at 236 inches with more to come, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. As of this posting Monday afternoon (Jan. 3), I-90 was still closed between North Bend (milepost 34) and Ellensburg (milepost 106) because of avalanche danger and heavy snow.
