Quake felt near Fall City

Measured at about 3.4 magnitude.

To quote the 1950s rock n’ roll pioneer Big Maybelle (and more famously, Jerry Lee Lewis), there was “a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on” in the Snoqualmie Valley last week.

A magnitude 3.4 earthquake shook the Valley at 3:46 a.m. on Dec. 19.

The quake was about 3.1 miles northeast of Fall City at a depth of about 17 km. It was about 5.6 miles away from Snoqualmie and 13.3 miles from Issaquah.

People reported the quake in the nearby communities of Issaquah and Sammamish, as well as in Seattle and Everett. The report furthest from the epicenter came in from near Morton in Lewis County.

Other quakes at lesser magnitude were reported in the Valley as well.
