King County’s Department of Community & Human Services will host a free, public conversation about human services in the community, as research for a possible renewal of the county’s veterans and human services levy.
The meeting will be 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave. S., North Bend. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
The meeting will be informal. Following a brief introduction by Leo Flor, Veterans and Human Services Levy Renewal Manager, the group will begin a round-table discussion on changes in the community since the levy was renewed in 2012, residents’ future priorities in veteran and human services and information gained from past community meetings.
“This first meeting is very much about what could be in the levy, what’s important to the communities,” said Flor, adding that, if the King County Council votes to pursue a renewal of the levy, further meetings would be scheduled to narrow the scope to specific needs in the community.
County staff members will take notes on residents’ feedback during the meeting. Residents can also share their thoughts and learn more about the process at www.kingcounty.gov/VHSLevyInput. To register to attend the meeting, visit www.NorthBendVHSL.Eventbrite.com.
The current levy is set to expire in 2017. If the county council decides to attempt a renewal, voters would likely see it on their ballots in August or November, 2017.
