A home invasion robbery that occurred in North Bend June 21 might have been motivated by medical marijuana being grown in the home that was robbed.

The victim of the robbery, who was hit in the head by a tire iron when the two suspects entered the apartment in the 100 block of West Fourth Street, reportedly thought the robbers were seeking medical marijuana that he was growing.

Two robbers entered the apartment through an unlocked door, and assaulted the 24 year-old male resident. One was carrying a handgun. Two women were also in the apartment, but they ran when the robbers came in. King County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a black metal case, about 2 by 3 feet, near the apartment. It was the only item reported stolen.
