Roundabout work remains on schedule

Construction of the new roundabout at North Bend Way and Cedar Falls Way is “right on schedule and right on budget,” said Tom Mohr, North Bend’s assistant city engineer.

Construction of the new roundabout at North Bend Way and Cedar Falls Way is “right on schedule and right on budget,” said Tom Mohr, North Bend’s assistant city engineer.

The project should be wrapped up by July 8, the contractors’ last day, Mohr said. Final pavement is expected to be done by the last week of June.

Construction of this roundabout, North Bend’s second, was contracted to Archer Construction at a cost of over $1 million.

Studies have found that in certain intersections, roundabouts can improve safety, decrease traffic delays, and reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

The city is studying locations for possible additional roundabouts.
