North Bend’s Sallal Grange will host a community forum on homeless teens in the Valley, 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10 at the Grange Hall, 12912 432nd Ave. S.E.
According to OSPI’s 2014-2015 Homeless Student Report, there are more than 60 homeless teens in the Snoqualmie Valley School District— a higher percentage than either Issaquah or Bellevue School Districts. This number includes only those teens enrolled in school and who self-report; given the difficult nature of accurately identifying homeless youth, the number may be greater.
These youth are particularly vulnerable and underserved. The Grange will present a panel of local service providers to begin the conversation to explore and better understand this issue. Everyone with information to share or who is interested in gaining more insight is invited to participate.
Those unable to attend but who want to participate can send email to lecturer@sallalgrange.org.
