Cascade View Ele-mentary School is bursting at the seams while Snoqualmie Elementary School has plenty of room. Enrollment at both schools is expected to continue rising. That means the Snoqualmie Valley School District will have to adjust the boundaries for which students go to which school.

But even a small-scale boundary adjustment of about 100 students, which is proposed for the schools, can be contentious, said district technology services director Jeff Hogan, who is coordinating district outreach efforts.

“No boundary change is easy,” Hogan said. “We try to have a process whereby parents look at the data with us.”

Letters explaining the process were sent to parents of students at both schools last week, Hogan said. Other elementary schools in the district will not be affected by a boundary change, he said.

“We’re in a fast-growing district,” said Joel Aune, school district superintendent. “Part of a district’s growing pains include schools reaching capacity [and having to revise boundaries to deal with the problem].”
