Semi-truck fire cleared on I-90

WSDOT asked drivers to avoid traveling westbound near High Point Road in Issaquah.

UPDATE: As of 2:20 p.m., the fire has been cleared, according to a WSDOT update on X.

The Washington Department of Transportation notified drivers of a semi-truck fire blocking the right westbound lane of Interstate 90 near High Point Road in Issaquah at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 9.

Eastside Fire arrived on the scene and put out the flames.

The damaged truck was carrying lithium batteries, Washington State Trooper Rick Johnson wrote on X. The cargo will be unloaded onto a second truck and moved as soon as possible.

As of 11:48 a.m., the backup was more than 2 miles, according to WSDOT.

“This will be an extended closure,” Johnson wrote on X. “No ETA for clearing this up.”
