Children on early release from school made the best of the slick stuff on Monday, rolling snowballs and hitting local sled hills.

On the streets, drivers had a more challenging time. Valley police agencies warned of dangerously slick conditions and black ice. At least one Metro transit bus was seen briefly stranded in a ditch near Meadowbrook.

The Snoqualmie Weather website reported a new record low on Monday.
