Clouds parted and the sun finally shone as the Mount Si High School Class of 2010 marched onto the stadium field for commencement exercises.

Friday, June 11, marked the moment the seniors had been waiting on for the past four years.

Introducing the class of 330 students as an academically successful and school-spirited bunch, Principal Randy Taylor said he was proud of a class that he believed had the makings of prosperous young adults.

“Our seniors worked diligently extending their efforts beyond the goals of high school to meet the needs of our community,” he said.

Reminding fellow classmates of their four years of “projects, crazy teachers, the WASL… life lessons, triumphs, hardships desperations and peace,” senior speaker Anna Sprouse highlighted that as each of them have “started a path of finding you, a story of you.”

A class consisting of salutatorian, Michyla Lindberg and five valedictorians, Alexandra Crandell, Lisa Eytel, Patrick Gavin, Jeff Heidel and Anna Wheeler, they were only the beginning of a long list of students who received awards and scholarships to prestigious universities, programs, and military academies.

Making it official, Superintendent Joel Aune congratulated the graduates, noting that all had met the requirements to graduate from the Snoqualmie Valley School District. After that came the long-awaited presentation of diplomas.

One by one, each senior shook the hand of Taylor, with many handing him a full or half-eaten pack of Smarties candy as their last token of remembrance for their years at Mount Si.
