Geoffrey and Tarah Smigun of Snoqualmie announced the birth of their first daughter, Anastasia Marie Smigun, who was born at 1:01 p.m. May 20 at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. Anastasia weighed seven pounds, eight ounces and measured 18 inches in length at birth. Maternal relatives are her grandfather, Gerald Petersen of Marysville, Wash., grandmother, Diane Petersen of Leesburg, Fla., and great-grandmother, Jelan Petersen of Marysville. Paternal relatives are grandparents Terry and Kathleen Smigun of Hemet, Wash., great-grandmother, Christine Brusha of Racine, Wisc., uncle Marc Smigun of Salem, Ore., and cousin, Taylor Smigun, also of Salem.
Anastasia’s brother, Aleksey, was excited to hold her when she was born, and is already protective of his little sister. Anastasia has already received her first lei and basked in the tropical sun with her sun-toned mom this summer. Tarah, Aleksey, and Anastasia will be permanently joining Geoffrey this Thanksgiving on Oahu, where he is currently on a three year special assignment supporting the Pacific Command JIOC.The Smigun family is excited to return home to Snoqualmie in two and a half years.
