Snoqualmie and Tolt at early flood stages

The King County Flood Warning Center opened Thursday, Jan. 28, as both the Snoqualmie and Tolt Rivers began rising. By mid-morning, both rivers had reached flood phase 2.

At phase 2, minor flooding in along parts of the Snoqualmie and in low-lying areas along the Tolt River is expected.

As of 10:30 a.m., the Tolt River at Carnation recorded a flow of 3,610 cubic feet per second (CFS); the Snoqualmie River at Snoqualmie Falls recorded a flow of 14,359 cfs. The Snoqualmie is expected to crest at the falls Thursday night at about 21,000 cfs and early Friday morning at Carnation at almost 23,000 cfs. The Tolt is forecast to crest this afternoon at almost 3,900 cfs.

Flood Warning Center employees will continue monitoring stream gages and weather reports, and will provide updated information on river conditions as necessary. Real-time river level information is available online at kingcounty.gov/flood.
