Snoqualmie City Council candidates Catherine Cotton and Mandeep Kaur Walia will advance to the General Election after taking the top two spots in their three-person primary this week.
While over 1,000 additional ballots have been counted since initial tallies were released Tuesday, results are unchanged. Cotton and Walia remain ahead of Tanya Lavoy in the Primary race for Snoqualmie City Council Position 5.
Cotton and Walia will advance to the November General Election for a head-to-head match-up. It will be one of two competitive elections for Snoqualmie City Council this year. The winner will serve until 2025.
Cotton, a veterinarian and long-time volunteer EMT with the Snoqualmie Fire Department, won the primary with 41% of the vote. She finished about 11% ahead of Walia in second place.
Walia, an internal physician, finished less than 3% – or about 52 votes — ahead of Lavoy.
Turnout for the race was low, typical of an off-year, non-presidential election. As of Friday, less than 27% of registered Snoqualmie voters had cast ballots.
