The Washington Recreation & Park Association named Snoqualmie Point Park the best part in its class for 2009.

Snoqualmie Parks and Recreation Director Al Frank accepted the award and glass trophy at the WRPA Awards Banquet in Spokane in April.

Snoqualmie Point Park, which commands stunning view of the Upper Valley, the Cascades, and peaks as far as Mount Baker, is nine acres of open space with a view shelter, an outdoor amphitheatre, space for picnics and ceremonies, and direct access to the Snoqualmie trailhead of the Rattlesnake Lake Trail.

It was given an extensive remodel and reopened to the public in 2007.

This is the second award for Snoqualmie Point Park. The 2008 Award of Excellence for Best Special Project was presented to Snoqualmie and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust by the Federal Highway Administration and the Washington State Department of Transportation. That award recognizes the ‘best of the best’ of community projects throughout Washington.
