Snoqualmie Valley School District staffers Jeffie Ritchie, Melinda Mohney, Tina Mix and Doron Jones have been named Educators of the Year by the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation.
“These educators exemplify commitment to excellence in education and dedication to our students and the community,” the schools foundation wrote in a press release.
Jeffie Ritchie is a STREAM teacher at Snoqualmie Elementary; Melinda Mohney is a math teacher at Snoqualmie Middle; Tina Mix is a Ceramics teacher at Mount Si High; And Doron Jones is a maintenance/stadium worker at Mount Si High.
Winners were nominated by colleagues, parents, and students and then evaluated by a selection committee composed of business and community leaders. Schools Foundation Boardmembers made surprise visits during the school day on March 2 to announce the winners.
The schools foundation honors three teachers – one at each school level – and one classified staffer each year ahead of its “Small Hands to Big Plans Benefit.” This year’s benefit will be held on April 5 at the Mount Si Performing Art Center. Proceeds from the benefit will go towards the foundation’s work of funding programs for Valley schools.
The event is open to the public.
