In the spirit of Generosity Month at DMW, school owner, Dan Cartan invited everyone inthe school to participate in a charity drive to benefit Mount Si Food Bank. The Food Bank is an organization that is dedicated to eliminating hunger in the Snoqualmie Valley.

The school’s students were trying to beat last year’s record of 540,000 kicks – The result 591,000 kicks for the week. At the end of the week, students raised over $3, 000.00 with donationsstill coming in.

“We are proud to help such a worthy charity that affects the lives of so many,” Cartan says. “It is a great opportunity to teach your children about the importance of giving toothers, and benefit others in need.”

DMW utilizes the physical skills they teach as a vehicle to work with children on strengtheningtheir character. Cartan adds, “So many parents and teachers look for opportunities to teach their children about the importance of giving to others. DMW provides those opportunitiesthrough their character education program so that the children don’t just learn about it, they experience it. This propels children to give more as they enter adolescence and adulthood.

”Teaching these powerful principles at a young age helps to shape children’s sense of citizenship, responsibility, and respect for community.”

Cartan is the owner and chief instructor of DMW Martial Arts and has helped thousands ofchildren, teens and adults embrace a positive and healthy lifestyle.
