Do you have an old TV in your basement? Or a computer in a closet? Some scrap metal in the backyard? Bring these items and more to the special recycling collection sponsored by the city of Duvall on Saturday, July 13, at Holy Innocents Church in Duvall. Most items are free to recycle, and fees range from 50 cents to $2 for certain items.

The collection is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or until full.

In past years, the line formed at about 8 a.m., but to avoid a long wait, plan to arrive between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All King County households are eligible to participate. The event is funded by grants from the local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County, and King County Solid Waste Division.

Only residential items will be accepted. Participants are asked to load their vehicles with items in the reverse order that they will be unloaded at the event:

1. Plastic plant pots (clean, empty, unbroken and sorted) and foam packing material in bags, no packing frames;

2. Clothing and household goods (reusable as-is), no furniture, charitable donation receipts available;

3. Batteries, lead-acid car, truck and marine batteries, also household batteries, cell phone and radio batteries;

4. Refrigerators and freezers, with no fee this year;

5. Fluorescent lights, for a fee of 50 cents each;

6. Electronics, including TV’s, computers, monitors, and audio equipment, also free this year;

7. Used (uncontaminated) motor oil, oil filters and antifreeze;

8. Tires from passenger vehicles, for a fee of $1 each, or $2 if on the rim (call for fees on larger tires);

9. Scrap metal, such as hot water tanks, stoves, washers, dryers, cast iron sinks and tubs, iron, steel, auto parts, all fuel and oil removed;

Unacceptable items will be refused and participants will have to take them back. Household hazardous waste items like cleaners, oil-based paints, mercury products, propane tanks or pesticides will not be accepted. Instead, take these items to the Household Hazardous Wastemobile collection June 12 to 14 at Snoqualmie Elementary School. For more Wastemobile information, call 206-296-4692.
