Spring storm could produce a foot of snow along local mountain passes

Washington's Department of Transportation has issued a travel advisory for the area. Forecasters are predicting more than a foot of snow to fall along the west slopes of the North Central Cascades including Snoqualmie, Chinook, White and Stevens passes and the North Cascades Highway by Sunday.

Washington’s Department of Transportation has issued a travel advisory for the area. Forecasters are predicting more than a foot of snow to fall along the west slopes of the North Central Cascades including Snoqualmie, Chinook, White and Stevens passes and the North Cascades Highway by Sunday.

For drivers planning to travel over the mountains this weekend, the department recommends:

Checking conditions and restrictions on our mountain passes Web page, www.wsdot.com/traffic/passes/snoqualmie/default.aspx;
Preparing for winter driving;
Checking Travel Alerts for region-wide updates, at www.wsdot.com/Traffic/trafficalerts/default.aspx?route=I-90%252526view=main%252526action=3;
Tuning into the Highway Advisory Radio at 1610 AM and 530 AM.
