The fourth annual Verizon innovation App challenge is now open for entires. In this contest, teams from schools and nonprofit organizations can enter their designs for an app that will solve a problem in their community.
Students can earn tablets and cash grants for the groups they represent. The Washington students are competing to receive one of the eight Best in Nation awards. Two teams from the Pacific northwest have won this title in the past two years.
Last year a team from Tolt Middle School in Carnation was a finalist in the challenge, and Tri-Tech Skills Center in Kennewick won, receiving $20,000 for their school and training from MIT experts to bring their app to the Google Play store.
Registration is open now and the deadline to submit an entry is Nov. 24.
