That new-building smell

A new beginning: Brownie Troop #1945, school staff and community members were on hand for the dedication of the new Millennium Wing at Carnation Elementary School recently. From left to right are Jacki Howell, leader Ann Dziok, Katrina England, Anna McLallin, Chloe Dziok, teacher Doug Higgins and Principal Jim Jordan. Attendees were also serenaded by first- and second-grade students who sang "The Carnation Tiger Song," written by teacher Doug Higgins. The "old" wing was built in 1960, and over the years began sagging, causing water damage in the ceiling and walls.
