Several farms across the Snoqualmie Valley are gearing up to participate in the first-ever Snoqualmie Valley Sunflower Festival.

The Carnation Chamber of Commerce will host the celebration of agriculture, heritage and natural beauty from Aug. 23 to Sept. 15.

“We really wanted to do something that was focused on highlighting the gorgeous agricultural beauty, history and vibrancy of the area and to help encourage people to get outside and get to know the farms,” said Erin Barzen, a co-chair of the event and vice president of the Carnation Chamber of Commerce. “Lots of people come out for pumpkin patches or berry picking, so we thought about doing a sunflower festival to further support agriculture in our Valley.”

Weeks of sunflower mazes, petting zoos, u-pick flowers, berries and produce will begin Aug. 24 at Lora Lee’s Family Farm in Duvall — 17651 W. Snoqualmie River Road NE — from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a vendor fair and live music.

The chamber’s interactive map of participating farms features Lora Lee’s Farm, Harvold Berry Farm, Frisky Girl Farm, Jubilee Farm, Muddy Boots Pumpkins, First Light Farm and more.

Some businesses are also participating in the festival, including Carnation’s Alveare Winery, which will host a paint-and-sip class featuring sunflowers, Barzen said.

“Our big goal is to promote all the things, businesses, and nonprofits that we have here in the Valley to folks that don’t live here,” Barzen said. “So, hopefully, they say, hey, I want to return to the Snoqualmie Valley. I want to stop in Carnation again.”

The first Sunflower Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Tolt Commons, 31999 E. Bird St., and will include free activities and a second vendor fair.

Specific event details will be posted on the chamber’s social media once finalized.
