The Twin Falls Parent Teacher Student Association kicked off a paver fundraiser, celebrating the first paver sold on Monday, Nov. 10.
Space has been reserved outside the main entrance for the “Raven Pathway,” for anyone in the community to leave their mark.
The Turpin family — Kathy, Ed, Jake, Makayla and Abby — were the first to purchase a paver.
“This is a great idea and it makes a great fundraiser. We are very pleased to be the first ones to support our school by purchasing a paver,” Kathy Turpin said.
All the proceeds from the paver fundraiser will go to Twin Falls Middle School to support programs. The fundraising goal for this year is $70,000.
Funds allow the PTSA to provide teacher grants in two rounds of $5,000 each, purchase grade level reading books, purchase nine ActivBoards, provide classroom enrichment opportunities, enrich algebra and geometry libraries, supplement emergency preparedness, partially fund three field trips for each grade, fund parent and teacher education, provide $5,000 toward the music program, $20,000 to the library, and $5,000 to the physical education program.
“The Twin Falls PTSA felt very strongly that this fundraiser should be a community fundraiser, as all middle school children in North Bend go to Twin Falls Middle School,” said Xiomara Pilon, president of the Twin Falls PTSA. “This is a community school.”
“We are excited about creating a legacy at Twin Falls,” said Principal Ruth Moen. “The beginning culture we create at Twin Falls will be remembered in traditions and values that will impact our future learning community. A legacy is a lasting memory. We hope to inspire students to learn, be resourceful and productive citizens in our community.”
Families may buy a paver for $100, have it engraved and permanently set outside of the main entrance. Each paver price includes two imprinted lines of type with 20 characters and spaces per line. A third line of type may be added for an additional $10 each.
The deadline for purchase is Dec. 31.
Twin Falls PTSA’s paver fundraiser is the group’s only major fundraiser of the year.
