Jordan Koellen, a senior at Mount Si High School, and Colton Green, a senior at Cedarcrest High School, each received a scholarship from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2878 at a June 3 recognition ceremony.

The scholarships are intended to encourage and reward high school seniors from each of seven area high schools, who are involved in community activities. The program was established in 1999, and is funded entirely by the employees of IAFF Local 2878. In 2004, the program was expanded to include a son or daughter of one of the union members. This is the 16th year of the program, which has awarded more than $52,000 in scholarship funds.

IAFF Local 2878 represents the firefighters and other staff of Eastside Fire & Rescue, Duvall Fire District 45, Fall City Fire District 27, and the City of Snoqualmie Fire Department.
