Participants raised more than $35,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The walk began at Centennial Fields in Snoqualmie. Walkers enjoyed meeting a wallaby from the Fall City Wallaby Ranch and free coffee drinks made by Celestial Espresso while checking in for the event. Music was provided by Jack FM and Roger’s DJ service. Prior to the walk, a representative of financial services organization Foresters presented walk chair Ray Gallagher a check for $4,500. The walk kicked off at 11 a.m. with complementary drinks from TalkingRain while walkers reveled in the Valley’s fall splendor along a 2.2 mile loop on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail with a rest stop at the half-way point courtesy of The Veronica Wine Bar, Tapas Restaurant and Jazz Club. Arriving back at Centennial Fields, families enjoyed a barbecue lunch from Gordy’s Steak & BBQ Smokehouse while being entertained by a family carnival and exhibitions by Rogue Tribal Bellydance and Kingdom Martial Arts.
Event organizers plan to make the walk an annual event. For more information, visit SnoqualmieValleyGreatStrides.com.
