Snoqualmie Valley is one of three school districts testing a new community-focused voting program in the upcoming election. King County plans to bring equipment meant to increase accessibility for disabled voters into the community, including Auburn and Vashon Island. In general elections, the county has voting sites with the equipment open for several days prior to the election. Ballots were mailed on Wednesday, February 18, to the approximately 67,000 registered voters in the school districts.

Voters can cast an audio or touch-screen ballot in English or Chinese. Large font, high contrast and a key pad device will make voting easier for disabled voters, according to King County Elections.

A voting center at Snoqualmie Library will be open on Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The pilot program was paid for by a Help America Vote Act grant, and no voting centers have been budgeted after the March 10 special election.
