Voters approve benefit service charge for Duvall Fire

King County has released unofficial results from the April 22 election.

Unofficial King County election results show that voters passed a benefit service charge for King County Fire Protection District 45.

District 45, also known as Duvall Fire, asked voters to approve a benefit service charge on the April 22 special election ballot, allowing the district to continue charging property owners for another six years. Unofficial results show that about 69% of voters voted “yes” to approve the charge.

District 45 contracts with Eastside Fire and Rescue for fire and emergency services. The funds from the charge would be used to maintain the current level of service the district provides.

“The district’s current tax levies are insufficient to adequately fund fire and emergency medical services to the citizens of Duvall,” the proposition’s explanatory statement says. “Passage of this measure would continue a sustainable funding source of the district.”

According to the statement, the charge is based on square footage, property use and fire risk factors.
