Aiming to help local make an informed vote on the next King County Executive, North Bend residents Gary and Jennifer Fancher are teaming up with the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce to host an Eastside King County Executive Community Forum, 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Twin Falls Middle School.

Gary Fancher, a Democratic precinct officer for the Grouse district near North Bend, said the forum is a critical opportunity for Valley residents to learn about their candidates for executive.

“Ron Sims had quite an impact, whether you agreed [with his policies] or not,” Fancher said. “That’s the power of the executive. This the time where we have the power to choose.”

Forum doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a meet-and-greet session with candidates and their representatives.

Six questions for the forum will come directly from the community. Residents can submit questions for the forum by e-mail to eastkcforum@gmail.com. Each candidate will answer the same question.

Fancher said he wanted his fellow residents to learn where candidates stand on such issues as growth and housing, environmental protection, human services, transportation and taxation — “all those kinds of questions that my neighbors and I have been discussing. I’m sure they’re on the minds of our community.”

Executive candidates including Snoqualmie city official Alan E. Lobdell, King County Councilmen Dow Constantine and Larry Phillips, State Sen. Fred Jarrett and State Rep. Ross Hunter will attend. Susan Hutchison has also been invited.

The event is open to all King County residents. For more information, call (425) 888-6362.
