Results from the city of Snoqualmie’s short bid search show that construction of the new Snoqualmie Ridge YMCA won’t start before spring of 2011.
The Snoqualmie City Council put out a call for bids for the facility in March, seeking a facility of roughly 15,000 square feet within a $3.9 million budget.
However, a clerical error meant that the request for bids did not get the required number of public notices. So the city had to re-announce the project, despite getting three bids. None of the bids that came in allowed for a fall start.
“It was a stumble,” Snoqualmie Parks and Recreation Director Gwen Voelpel said.
The new bid search closes July 5. The delay effectively rules out a fall start date, but gives bidders more time to prepare competitive proposals.
“We’ll see if we get more interest,” Voelpel said. “Maybe we’ll get a more robust competition — that would be optimal.”
