Anne Veelman of North Bend passed away Saturday, June
20, 2020, at age 92.
Anne was born July 26, 1927, in Portland, Oregon, to
William and Marion Fordyce. She was raised in Portland,
and married Robert Veelman in 1956. Together they
spent several years living in various locations in the Pacific
Northwest before settling in North Bend in 1968.
Throughout her life Anne was an avid reader and nature
lover. She particularly enjoyed mystery books. Anne
wrote children’s stories about Alaskan animals for her
grandchildren. She also enjoyed long road trips around the
United States and Canada to various unusual and obscure
destinations, visiting Alaska to see her grandchildren, bird
and elk watching, Mariners baseball, and camping with
her family. She was active for many years in the Rocky
Mountain Elk Foundation and P.E.O.
Anne is survived by her husband, Robert Veelman, her son
Will Veelman (Lynette), and granddaughters Anna and
Clara Veelman.
Anne will be buried at the Tahoma National Cemetery. In
