Eugenia (Jean) Michael Macris born January 5, 1940, reposed February 22nd 2017. Eugenia was raised in a large and lively Greek family in the heart of the Spokane Valley.
Eugenia attended the University of Washington under scholarship, received a BA degree in Elementary Education and began her teaching career. She fell in love and married a hard working young Greek immigrant: George Macris. Eugenia and George owned and operated George’s Bakery from 1964-1993 along with Nature’s Marketplace Nutrition Center (1980-2015), both in downtown North Bend.
Eugenia supported numerous local school and sports teams and mentored many young people by providing jobs and business advice. She was always willing to give time, health products, and funds to many needy folks who would providentially visit her store. Eugenia worked tirelessly at her church’s bookstore, managed fundraising for the church’s Christian missionary causes, and would regularly feed the homeless in Seattle under the I-5 freeway. Eugenia passed peacefully surrounded by her children at her home in North Bend.
She is survived by her daughter Angelique Macris Saffle (Mark) of Carnation and son Chris George Macris (Paula) of North Bend.
We thank God for granting her a full life and peaceful repose with hope in the Resurrection to eternal life in Jesus Christ.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 3 at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (Seattle) with Interment at Mount Si Memorial Cemetery.
