George “Big Al” Genson
Big Al passed away on January 30, 2010 after battling prostate cancer for many years. Born to George and Emogene Genson in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington, he was the oldest of five children. He married Gwyneth Thomas in North Bend, Washington on July 9, 1952 and while serving in the Army in Japan, his twins, Chuck and Terrie were born on May 14, 1953. They moved to Forks, Washington in 1967 when working for M.C. Anderson. After many years in the logging and trucking industry, Al moved to Bremerton to be with his great grandchildren. A very proud Papa, Al loved to brag about his grandbabies. Al is survived by his wife Gwen Genson, daughter Terrie (Norman) Huffman, brother Ed (Jodie) Genson, brother Brian (Tammy) Genson, sisters Yvonne Thomas, Eleanor Dunn, grand-sons Michael (Michelle) Huffman, Albert Huffman, great-grand-children Alexandra and Logan Huffman and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Emogene Genson, and his son Charles “Chuck” Genson. A celebration of life and a potluck will be held at the Forks Elks Lodge on Saturday, February 20 at 1:00pm.
