Hazel “Babe” Morris | Obituary

March 4, 1937- September 16, 2024

Hazel “Babe” Morris, our beloved matriarch and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Cle Elum, WA, on September 16, 2024. Born on March 4, 1937, in Fall City, WA, to Hazel Erickson Moore and Chuck Moore, she spent most of her life in her hometown alongside her siblings, Rita and Charles (Little Chuckie).

Hazel was born with clubbed feet and was unable to walk for the first stage of her life, leaving her with a sense of humor and determination that would follow her throughout her life.

Hazel was the mother to six children; Mary, Polly, Sally, Julie, Tom & Jon. She was the grandmother to 17 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 40 beautiful great-grandchildren.

Hazel’s straightforward and candid demeanor was embraced by her closest friends and family. Hazel spent her working years serving as a cook at Echo Glenn Children’s Detention Center and Weyerhaeuser. Most of her retirement was spent in her favorite place; Ocean Shores.

In August 2021, Hazel moved to Cle Elum, WA where she spent the rest of her days. Her love of the outdoors was passed down to her by her dad, Chuck Moore.

She shared her love of mushroom hunting with her 6 children & spent many of her 87 years outdoors.

Hazel is survived by her devoted family, who will carry on her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering wit. She will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A celebration of Hazel’s life will be held at Vasa Hall in Fall City, WA on October 12, 2024.
