Mary Alice “Maggi” Whitaker | Obituary

Passed away peacefully at her home in Snoqualmie, Washington on August 6, 2024.

Maggi was born on October 24, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Alice Stanley.

The family moved from Detroit in 1955 to Bellevue, WA.

She attended Sacred Heart in Bellevue, Holy Names Academy in Seattle and graduated from Washington State University.

She married William “Bill” Whitaker in 1971 at St. Madeline Sophie in Bellevue.

Maggi and Bill moved to Snoqualmie in 1975, where Bill grew up.

She worked for Children’s Services, was a founding member of Mountain View School in Snoqualmie and founder and owner of Down to Earth Flowers and Gifts in downtown Snoqualmie.

She loved gardening and growing flowers at her house in Snoqualmie. She was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with hergranddaughter. She had a close-knit family and loved hosting dinners once or twice a week. Maggi was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Snoqualmie for more than 50 years where she taught CCD, was a Eucharistic minister and lector.

She is survived by her husband Bill Whitaker, daughters; Alice (Darren) Friedel, Jenny Whitaker and Ann Marie Whitaker and granddaughter, Violet Friedel all of Snoqualmie.

Siblings; Cathy (Bill) Griffin, Sharon Stanley Phd., Sarah (Mike) Salmon, Court (Kelly) Stanley.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 11 am on Friday August 16 with an open house reception following at Meadowbrook Interpretive Center at 1 pm.
