With the annual filing period nearing for November elections in King County, it looks like Carnation, Snoqualmie and North Bend school board, mayoral and city council seats are safe from electoral challenge this fall.

Positions up for vote include the State Representative seats held by Jay Rodne (R-North Bend) and Glenn Anderson (R-Fall City), Patty Murray’s U.S. Senate seat and U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert’s District 8 congressional seat.

Races are shaping up already. David Spring is back to challenge Rodne, and Preston author Chris Widener threw his name in the ring this spring to challenge Murray, only to withdraw in April when higher-profile candidates emerged.

Any other potential takers can learn more about the intricacies of running for office in a county workshop, 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at election headquarters in Tukwila.

To appear on the fall ballot, all candidates must file a declaration of candidacy online, in person or by mail no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 11 by 4:30 p.m. You can learn more about the filing process at www.kingcounty.gov/elections.
