The editor of the Valley Record inadvertently compared apples to
oranges in last week’s article on Snoqualmie’s 2000 budget.
North Bend’s $834,000 public safety funding is 37 percent of the
city’s general fund, and not the entire city budget as reported. Public
safety funding, when combined with $605,000 for fire services, constitutes
11.37 percent of the city’s $12,655,951 total budget.
The correct figure for Snoqualmie’s public safety budget is
$2,094,285, incorporating $1,372,964 for law enforcement and $721,321 for fire
services. The law enforcement component of the general fund is
$871,616, or 54.7 percent of Snoqualmie’s $1,591,703 general fund. Public
safety and fire funding constitute 14.5 percent of the city’s total budget.
The Valley Record regrets the incorrect presentation of the data.
