Development threatens our Falls

Letter to the Editor.

I live in Snoqualmie Valley, home to the beautiful Snoqualmie Falls,

second most visited tourist spot in our beautiful state and the sacred home

of the Snoqualmie Tribe. I am very concerned about the pending danger to

the Falls. I’m sure you have taken your family, friends or special visitors

out to Snoqualmie to see our wonderful Snoqualmie Falls. What a site to

behold.

It seems that a development company is proposing to put a

subdivision and business park right at the top of the Falls.

Imagine visiting all the way from a distant country to see those Falls

and during the day, seeing houses and a business park, then at night, not

being able to see the Falls due to all the lights from the business park and the

street lights of the subdivision.

We need your help. We need to keep these Falls as they have

always been, free and naturally beautiful. These Falls are also the scared

creation grounds of the Snoqualmie Tribe.

Please. We need people to speak up and say enough is enough. I

feel this developer is pushing a small city into a decision that will have dire

consequences. They are directing the city to ignore RCW 36.70A.020.

Please, we need your intervention. Please speak up for King County

and give the city of Snoqualmie the support to abide by the laws of

King County set up to protect the Snoqualmie Falls for future

generations.

If Snoqualmie Falls gets developed, is Mt. Rainier next?
