Right now there is a political ad running on TV regarding 1,300 convicted sex offenders that are roaming our streets. This ad points the blame at Gov. Christine Gregoire and I agree she should or could have done much more on this issue over the past four years.

However, there are other political leaders (like Washington State Sen. Cheryl Pflug) who also choose to turn their backs on this important issue. I sent Sen. Pflug an e-mail several weeks ago asking for her support on a Senate bill this coming December that would require mandatory abduction prevention training in all our public school PE classes. The nice thing about this idea is it wouldn’t cost us taxpayers a single dime more than we’re already paying! But sadly, as of today, Sen. Pflug still hasn’t responded to my e-mail message. It appears to me that our children’s safety is a fairly low priority for Sen. Pflug, even though she’s running for re-election right now, as is Gov. Gregoire.

With election day coming up Nov. 4, I would encourage everyone reading this letter to find out whether or not your various candidates (Democrat or Republican) for political office support mandatory abduction prevention in our public school PE classes. And if not, I encourage you to vote for someone else that does, even if you have to write their name in on your ballot.
