Once again I read a letter decrying the whale hunt. Of how the
Coast Guard ran over some poor protester.
My questions: What gives these protesters the right to violate the
rights of others? Do they stand in front of the places where cows, pigs and
chickens are killed? Do they go to Russia and Japan to stop unlawful whale
killing? Do they go to Iceland or the North Pole where seals are killed?
These protesters were told to stay so many yards from the Makahs.
On TV their leaders said, “We won’t obey the law.” On TV I saw one
protester tried to swamp the Makahs, but that’s OK. I am sorry that person was
hurt. But all in all, she did it herself. Like it or not, the Makah’s have their rights.
By the way, I am not a Native American. I’m just tired of
always hearing about people who claim they’re above the laws and can
violate everyone else’s right because they don’t like it.
