Wood shop petition
I am a sixth grader at Snoqualmie Middle School. I am writing to express my disappointment that Snoqualmie Middle School is not currently doing wood shop. Since elementary school, I have looked forward to going to wood shop once I got to middle school.
The reason apparently is because the other two middle schools in our district do not offer wood shop, and all three schools “should” be the same. This is patently ridiculous, as we have a teacher who has 32 years of experience teaching shop, who now must teach computer technology classes. Not only are his experience and talents going untapped this year, but also the wood shop room, tools, supplies, and equipment at the school sit unused. I am incensed at this and hope others who also believe in the importance of wood shop will sign my online petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/woodshop/petition.html, so that I may present it to the Snoqualmie Valley School District school board meeting later in the school year.
Maybe we can change the policy and next year, and the years after, we can have wood shop again at SMS!
