Operation Santa Claus was success

Letter to the Editor.

This past Christmas the King County Sheriff’s Office North

Bend Substation, in conjunction with the North Bend Detachment of the

Washington State Patrol and Eastside Fire Services, conducted its seventh

annual “Operation Santa Claus.”

During November notification was made to the local newspaper,

requesting donations of non-perishable food and toys be dropped off at the

substation. Cash donations could be put into the Operation Santa Claus account

at the Bank of America in North Bend.

As always, the community responded very well, donating

enough food, toys and money to give twenty-two families in the area a

merrier Christmas. Each family received two boxes filled with food and gifts, as

well as a gift certificate/voucher from either the North Bend Market Place

or the Safeway store (for food only). A special thank you to the

Sammamish Homeowners (SHOUT) for their generous monetary donation,

Sammamish Chamber of Commerce for food, and Di Irons for all her hard work, gift

contribution and gift wrapping. Also thank you to Weyerhaeuser for all the

boxes of wrapped gifts, the Christmas stockings for each child from

the Northshore Rotary, the monetary donation from the City of North

Bend, clothing from the Factory Outlet Mall, Big Edd’s Restaurant for donated

toys, and the volunteer elves for all the gift wrapping.

The deputies and staff of North Bend Substation wish to thank

each one of you for your generosity to the community and for letting us

play Santa Claus for you.
