The battle of blistered feet continues

A look at Snoqualmie life through the eyes of a local.

I feel spring in the air! I am dying to hang my sheets on the line and

it doesn’t look like it will be much longer. Even Sparky has spring

fever. He actually went out on the patio for two minutes but the fresh air was

too much of a shock on his little orange and white body so he headed for

his food dish and a warm bed.

My week was made really special by two anonymous people. I’m

going through the “I don’t want to train anymore and I don’t want to do fund

raising anymore” whiny stage, so when I got a card from “a fellow Valley

girl” who said “you inspire a lot of

people, keep up the hard work!” I felt like

crying because I thought it was so great that someone would take the time

to send me a card of support, and it definitely rejuvenated me. Then last

week I had found a wallet in the grocery store parking lot and turned it in

and the nice man to whom the wallet belonged bought me a beautiful

bouquet of flowers and a thank you card and left them on my doorstep. It is a

very good feeling to know there are such wonderful, caring people out

there! Thank you to both of those very special people for making my week

so special.

Speaking of fund raisers – I, along with my supportive Mom and

sisters, will be having a garage sale fund raiser for the Leukemia Society on

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11, 12 and 13. I am looking for donations of

items (in good condition) to sell. Anything you donate or buy at the garage sale

is tax deductible, and I will have receipts available. If you have items to

donate, call me at (425) 888-4298 and I will gladly pick them up.

I have not gotten around to sending thank you notes for donations,

but here is a list of local people that have donated: Ron and Mary

Byersdorf (UPS driver), Dan Perrins, Jeanne Hansen, Leo McKenna, James

and Denise Reynolds, Jerry and Sue Main, Scott and Brenda Foster, Elmer

Sams, Tanner Electric, Michelle and Jonathan Liu, The Valley

Record, Mark Morgan, Don Korsmo, Officer Robert Keeton, Snoqualmie P.D.,

Russ and Sue Wentz, Brian and Marci Busby, Snoqualmie Fire Dept.,

Howie and Karen Perryman, Bill and Chris Leonard, Pat Briggs, Alan

Bateman, FCI, Terra Works, Frank and JoAnne Engle, George and Sharon

Wyrsch, Earlene Trombley, Mount Si Quarry, Peggy Colson, Lee and

Helen Bergsma, Issaquah Glass, Barb LeBlanc, Juleen Engen,

Vicky Curnutt, Maxine Fleming and all my brothers and sisters. My parents

Ed and Cleo Wentz are my sponsors and have given in many, many

ways. Thank you to everyone.

Sparky’s corny joke of the week: Where do kittens go on class trips?

To mew-seums!

“Believing in our hearts that who we are is enough is the key to a

more satisfying and balanced life.”

It happened this week: Monopoly went on sale for the first

time in 1935, the first Olympic dogsled race took place at Lake Placid, N.Y.,

in 1932, and Beatles fans screamed for ice cream when Baskin-Robbins

introduced a flavor called “Beatle Nut” in 1964.

PPP

I haven’t played Monopoly for a long time, but I did get into a

rousing game of Sorry with Brian and his 8-year-old son Brandon. Brandon

sent me home over and over again until I threatened revenge. Then he and

I ganged up on Brian and made a deal that Brandon and I wouldn’t send

each other home, but would send Brian home instead. I still managed to

lose big time.

The battle of the blistered feet continues. Last weekend I decided to

try “blister prevention” which you put

on wherever you get blisters. The only thing that happened was I

blistered underneath the material which clings to your skin like its life depends on

it. So when I went to take off the so-called blister prevention, my

blisters came with it and left me with raw skin to walk on all week.
