With the close of Snoqualmie Days this past weekend, comes the sad realization that two couples from the Valley will soon be leaving us for good, the Littlejohns and the Webbs. Both
couples have made tremendous efforts for the Valley and were key in shaping
many things that we have today. Cecil and Joyce Littlejohn could be found at
many community functions, working as volunteers or donating money or
materials to a good cause. They are kind, gentle people who are part of the reason
that the Valley still holds a strong sense of community.
Frank and Laverna Webb have also been a big part of the
community. Frank as a firefighter for Snoqualmie with many Snoqualmie Day’s
events under his belt, and Laverna right there by his side, volunteering in any way
she was needed.
Both couples raised their children here and sent them to local
schools. They became active members in local organizations like the Moose,
Eagles and the Chamber of Commerce. In one sentence: They are Snoqualmie Valley.
Despite the sadness from their departure, there are signs of new
Valley members stepping up to the tasks previously done by people like the
Littlejohns and Webbs — new residents who are willing to get involved and keep
this community a great place to live and raise a family. The new Ridge to
Rails event appeared to be a smashing success, as did Snoqualmie Day’s Tour
de Peaks. And the volunteers that were scurrying about to make it all
happen were a mixture of old and new, showing a cohesiveness that will be
necessary to make sure we maintain our sense of community. Congratulations to all
for a great job!
And to the Littlejohns and Webbs, you will always be a part of our
community in spirit.
