Valley offers kindergarten options

Letter to the Editor.

Kindergarten enrollment is fast approaching the Snoqualmie Valley.

I wonder if parents are aware of all the options available to them through

the public school system.

One option offered by Snoqualmie Valley School District is a

parent-participation program for K-5 called the Primary Optional Program or POP.

In this program parents become strong partners in their children’s

education. The goal is to participate directly in education by volunteering 35 hours

of time to the classroom of our children throughout the school year.

This comes out to about an hour per week. There is a small enrollment fee

with waivers available.

The program is a wonderful opportunity to be directly involved with

our children, their teachers and the school. We have been at Snoqualmie

Elementary for about 10 years. It is a district-supported program available to

all children that go to any of the Valley schools with bus transportation

provided.

A new parent enrollment and information meeting will be held at

the North Bend Public Library on Tuesday, March 21, at 7 p.m.

If anyone would like further information, please contact me at

(425) 831-6798 or Snoqualmie Elementary School at (425) 831-8050. In

addition, information may be obtained at the kindergarten enrollments at each

elementary school in March.
